Your home is a big monetary investment. It is also the place where you can feel safe. Because of both of those things you want to make sure that your house isn't sustaining any damage. One way to do that is to make sure that your basement or foundation is waterproofed. Water is a good thing when you are drinking it or using it to wash your clothes, but when it is seeping into your basement, it suddenly becomes a lot less good. Water can cause all kinds of damage that could even cause your foundation to fail in the worst-case scenario. So, what can you do to make sure that your house is waterproofed? You should call a contractor and talk to them about your various options.

Epoxy Waterproofing

Epoxy waterproofing is applied to the inside walls of your basement. To use this method, any wallpaper or paneling that is on your walls will need to be removed. The contractor may also have to strip any paint that may be on your walls. They will be able to tell you if that part is going to be necessary. The epoxy waterproofing is applied by spraying epoxy or resin on the walls. The epoxy will fill and seal any little cracks or pores where the water might be getting into your house. If you aren't seeing a whole lot of water in your basement, this can be a good option. It can also last for a pretty long time. After the waterproofing is set, you can have the wall treatment installed again.

Floor Drain

If you are seeing a lot of water, you want to have a way to get that water out of the basement. One way to do that is to have a floor drain installed. If you are seeing the water in a particular area, having the drain installed in that area will probably be the best way to get the water out. The drain can lead to a sump pump which will pump all the water out of your house. Retrofitting the drain may involve working on your floor so there is a very gentle slope to the drain.

If you have water in your basement or foundation, you want to get that water out of your basement as quickly as possible. You can hire a contractor who can waterproof your basement. They may recommend more than one method for your house to make sure that you are getting the best waterproofing possible.
